It all started November 17, 2001

…when a very handsome seven week old, nine pound, Chocolate Labrador Retriever entered our home. It was love at first sight and the rest is history.

As the saying goes, “that dog changed our life” says Meera Brown owner of Smoochy Poochy.

Brown and Campkin (the dog’s father) sat in front of a sewing machine determined to sew a leash for themselves to use on their dog.

The leash’s main requirement was it had to be practical, functional, easy to use, and cater to the needs of their city and country lifestyle.

As Tucker walked around boastfully with his innovative lead, total strangers would comment, “where did you buy that leash?” or “how can I get one of those leashes?”

That is when, Smoochy Poochy a proudly Canadian, Toronto based company sprouted and introduced the optional Hands-free Leash to the pet industry.

“Production of the Smoochy pet gear line is made with pride,” Brown explains.

Our Smoochy Poochy team targets the many details that go into making each product; it’s almost as if all the products are hand-crafted. No huge off-shore manufacturing…

We take pride and ownership that all products are made locally by a team of people who not only care about the details of each product but the dogs and people who use them daily.
